Join us in engineering the future of enterprise operations

We build quoting and dispatch software for trades that measure, fabricate, and install — work where a quarter-inch error costs a remake and a truck roll. That is a narrow, unglamorous, extremely specific problem, and the people who do well here are the ones who find that interesting rather than limiting.

Novel Systems and Novel Blinds Inc. are both service-area businesses — no showroom, no walk-in office. Meetings happen at your site or over video, and mail goes to the registered address on your order form. “Hybrid” on a posting below means co-working days and customer sites across the regions we cover in Ontario — not a commute to a building we do not have.

How we hire

The process is published because the alternative wastes your evenings

Hiring is the first thing a candidate learns about how a company operates. A process that hides the range until offer stage, adds a surprise fifth interview, and then goes silent is telling you something accurate about the job.

  • The range is in the posting, not in the third call

Every role above states its compensation before you apply. Ontario's pay-transparency rules require it, and independently of that, discovering the range at offer stage after four conversations is a waste of your evenings.

  • No unpaid take-home projects

The one exercise with preparation attached — the account executive business case — is capped at two hours and we ask how long it took. Everything else happens live, in a scheduled block, with us in the room.

  • The full loop is published up front

Every stage, its format, and its length are listed on each posting. The longest loop here is 4 stages. Nothing gets added mid-process.

  • A decision within five business days of your last stage

Including a no, with a reason that is specific enough to be useful. If a process runs long we tell you why rather than going quiet.

Benefits

Six things, stated as numbers

Benefits are delivered through the Novel Blinds Inc. group plan, which is one of the practical advantages of being a division rather than a seed-stage company. The list is short on purpose — everything on it is a commitment with a figure attached.

Open roles

4 roles open right now

Each posting carries its compensation range, its work model, every interview stage with its length, and who you would report to. Expand any of them in full before you decide whether to spend thirty minutes on an application.

    Enterprise Account Executive

Own the full cycle into Ontario distribution and field-service operators running twenty to two hundred field staff. These are buyers who have been burned by a rip-and-replace ERP once already, so the job is less persuasion than it is proving the quoting math in front of the person who owns the margin.

    Location
    Ontario · Hybrid
    Compensation
    $95,000 CAD – $120,000 CAD base · $95,000 CAD variable at plan
    Interview loop
    4 stages · 3.3 h total
Full description, requirements, and the interview loop

    What you own

    • Run discovery that reaches the estimator and the dispatcher, not only the owner — the two people who will decide whether this gets used after week three.
    • Build the business case in the customer's own numbers using the ROI model, including the scenario where the benefit is smaller than they hoped.
    • Carry a quota against new logos, with an explicit expectation that you disqualify early rather than nurse an unqualified deal to quarter-end.
    • Bring the pattern back: what the market actually asks for belongs in the roadmap conversation, and you are the shortest path for it.

    What we require

    • Four or more years closing net-new B2B software into operations or field-service buyers, with deals in the $30K–$250K annual range.
    • A demonstrated ability to sell to a sceptical technical evaluator without handing the call to an engineer.
    • Comfort with a product that publishes its limits — you will be asked to say 'no, not yet' in front of a prospect and hold the deal together anyway.
    • Entitled to work in Canada and able to travel to customer sites across the Ontario regions we cover.

    What strengthens it

Nice to have. Nobody is screened out for missing these.

    • Experience in window coverings, HVAC, electrical, or another measured-and-installed trade.
    • Having sold alongside an implementation team on a multi-month deployment.
    • French.

    How the work happens

    Hybrid · Ontario

Two to three days a week alongside the team — booked co-working space plus customer sites across the regions we cover. We are a service-area business with no office of our own, so nobody is commuting to a building to sit on video calls.

Reports to Commercial leadership at Novel Blinds Inc., until the division stands up its own revenue function.

    Compensation

    $95,000 CAD – $120,000 CAD base · $95,000 CAD variable at plan

Base plus uncapped commission at a 50/50 split; the figures shown are base range and variable at 100% of plan. Accelerators above plan. Reviewed annually against the range, not against your negotiating position at hire.

    The interview loop · 4 stages · 3.3 hours

    1. Introductory call

      Video · 30 minutes

What you are looking for, what we actually are, and whether the territory and the compensation structure work before either of us spends more time.

    2. Live discovery exercise

      Video · 60 minutes

You run discovery on one of us playing a distribution operations manager. Unscripted, and we will be an awkward buyer. We are watching for whether you find the margin leak, not whether you follow a framework.

    3. Business case review

      Video · 60 minutes

You bring back a short business case from the discovery call, including where the number is soft. Prepared in your own time, capped at two hours — we will ask how long it took.

    4. Final conversation

In person, Greater Toronto Area · 45 minutes

Territory plan, references, and offer discussion.

    Senior Full-Stack Engineer — Next.js / TypeScript

Work on the surfaces where the configuration solver meets a person: the quoting workspace, the price-book authoring tools, and the offline-first technician application. Strict TypeScript throughout, and the codebase means it — no any, no unchecked index access, and every money value rounded exactly once.

    Location
    Remote · Canada
    Compensation
    $135,000 CAD – $175,000 CAD
    Interview loop
    4 stages · 3.8 h total
Full description, requirements, and the interview loop

    What you own

    • Build and own product surfaces end to end, from the data contract to the interaction detail, rather than picking up tickets someone else specified.
    • Keep the solver's numbers and the interface's numbers identical — the same compiled module runs in the browser, on the field device, and on the server, and it is your job to keep that true.
    • Extend the offline layer: per-field CRDT merge, conflict surfacing, and a sync path that behaves correctly on a tablet in a parking garage.
    • Review with actual rigour. A quarter-inch rounding defect on a cut list is a remake, a truck roll, and a customer who stops trusting the tool.

    What we require

    • Five or more years shipping production TypeScript, including meaningful React work in a codebase with real type strictness.
    • Depth in Next.js App Router specifically — server components, streaming, and a working understanding of what belongs on the client and why.
    • Experience with a domain where correctness is not negotiable: pricing, payments, scheduling, tax, or similar.
    • Entitled to work in Canada, with four hours of daily overlap with Eastern time.

    What strengthens it

Nice to have. Nobody is screened out for missing these.

    • CRDTs, operational transformation, or any hands-on experience with offline-first synchronisation.
    • Constraint solvers, rule engines, or configuration systems.
    • Accessibility work beyond an audit — you have shipped for keyboard and screen-reader users on purpose.

    How the work happens

    Remote · Canada

Anywhere in Canada with four hours of overlap with Eastern time. Quarterly on-sites in the Greater Toronto Area, travel covered. You must be legally entitled to work in Canada; we do not sponsor at our current size and say so up front.

    Reports to Configuration Engineering.

    Compensation

    $135,000 CAD – $175,000 CAD

No variable component. We would rather pay the whole number in salary than tie an engineer's income to a quarterly target they cannot influence. Band placement is written down at offer and reviewed annually.

    The interview loop · 4 stages · 3.8 hours

    1. Introductory call

      Video · 30 minutes

With the hiring manager. What you have built, how the team works, and the compensation range before anything else.

    2. Code conversation

      Video, pairing · 90 minutes

We work through a real problem from our own backlog in your editor. No whiteboard algorithms, no take-home. You may use whatever tooling you normally use, AI assistants included — we will ask you to explain the output either way.

    3. System design

      Video · 60 minutes

Design the sync layer for a device that is offline for six hours and comes back with conflicting edits. We are interested in the failure modes you raise unprompted.

    4. Team conversation

      Video · 45 minutes

Two engineers, no interviewing panel theatre. Your questions get the most time.

    Solutions Architect — ERP Integrations

Own the technical shape of an implementation: what synchronises with the customer's ERP, in which direction, and which system is authoritative when the two disagree. Most of our deployments sit beside QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, Dynamics, or a spreadsheet nobody will admit is load-bearing.

    Location
    Ontario · Hybrid
    Compensation
    $120,000 CAD – $150,000 CAD base · $15,000 CAD variable at plan
    Interview loop
    4 stages · 3.3 h total
Full description, requirements, and the interview loop

    What you own

    • Run the integration discovery and produce the field-level mapping, including an explicit answer to who wins on conflict for every synchronised entity.
    • Build and maintain reference integrations and the migration tooling that moves a customer's price book and history in without a month of manual entry.
    • Be the person on the call when a sync breaks in production, and the person who makes sure that class of break cannot recur.
    • Feed the API roadmap from what integrations actually need, not from what would be tidy to build.

    What we require

    • Four or more years integrating business systems — ERP, accounting, or field-service platforms — in a customer-facing capacity.
    • Fluency with REST, webhooks, and the operational reality of idempotency, retries, and replay windows.
    • Enough SQL and scripting to answer a data question yourself rather than queueing it behind an engineer.
    • The judgement to tell a customer their proposed integration is a bad idea, and the credibility to have that land.

    What strengthens it

Nice to have. Nobody is screened out for missing these.

    • Hands-on QuickBooks, Sage 300, NetSuite, or Dynamics 365 Business Central integration work.
    • Migration experience on projects where the source data was genuinely poor.
    • SAML 2.0 and SCIM 2.0 configuration against Entra ID or Okta.

    How the work happens

    Hybrid · Ontario

Two to three days a week alongside the team — booked co-working space plus customer sites across the regions we cover. We are a service-area business with no office of our own, so nobody is commuting to a building to sit on video calls.

    Reports to Enterprise Support Engineering.

    Compensation

    $120,000 CAD – $150,000 CAD base · $15,000 CAD variable at plan

Variable is tied to implementation outcomes — go-live on schedule and customer adoption at ninety days — rather than to bookings, because the person designing the integration should not be paid to say yes to it.

    The interview loop · 4 stages · 3.3 hours

    1. Introductory call

      Video · 30 minutes

Scope of the role, the customer mix, and the range.

    2. Integration design review

      Video · 75 minutes

A real scenario: bidirectional sync with an accounting system where both sides think they own the customer record. You design it out loud and we argue about it.

    3. Customer conversation simulation

      Video · 45 minutes

You explain a delayed go-live to a frustrated operations director. We are watching for whether you stay specific under pressure.

    4. Final conversation

In person, Greater Toronto Area · 45 minutes

With the implementation and engineering leads. References and offer.

  • Customer SuccessPosted May 28, 2026

Customer Success Manager — Trade Operations

Carry a portfolio of trade operators from go-live through renewal. The measure is not a health-score dashboard; it is whether estimators quote in the platform on a Tuesday afternoon when nobody is watching, and whether the dispatcher stopped keeping a parallel whiteboard.

    Location
    Remote · Canada
    Compensation
    $90,000 CAD – $115,000 CAD base · $20,000 CAD variable at plan
    Interview loop
    4 stages · 3 h total
Full description, requirements, and the interview loop

    What you own

    • Own adoption for your accounts, including the uncomfortable part: naming the customer-side behaviour that is blocking it.
    • Run quarterly operational reviews against the numbers the customer cares about — quote turnaround, remake rate, first-time-fix — rather than against our usage metrics.
    • Be the escalation path a customer trusts, working the P0 and P1 ladder with support rather than around it.
    • Own renewal and expansion for the portfolio, and forecast honestly, including the accounts that are not going to renew.

    What we require

    • Three or more years in customer success, account management, or operations leadership at a B2B software company or a trade operator.
    • Genuine comfort with operational detail — you can read a dispatch board and tell whether the day went well.
    • The willingness to deliver bad news early, which is the entire job on the accounts that matter.
    • Entitled to work in Canada, with occasional travel to customer sites across the Ontario regions we cover.

    What strengthens it

Nice to have. Nobody is screened out for missing these.

    • Background in a measured-and-installed trade, distribution, or field service.
    • Experience owning a renewal number.
    • Comfort building a report in SQL or a BI tool without asking anyone.

    How the work happens

    Remote · Canada

Anywhere in Canada with four hours of overlap with Eastern time. Quarterly on-sites in the Greater Toronto Area, travel covered. You must be legally entitled to work in Canada; we do not sponsor at our current size and say so up front.

    Reports to Field Ops Team.

    Compensation

    $90,000 CAD – $115,000 CAD base · $20,000 CAD variable at plan

Variable is weighted to gross retention and adoption rather than to expansion, so the incentive points at the customer keeping the value they bought.

    The interview loop · 4 stages · 3 hours

    1. Introductory call

      Video · 30 minutes

Portfolio shape, the operating rhythm, and the range.

    2. Account review exercise

      Video · 60 minutes

We hand you a struggling account — declining quote volume, a dispatcher who has gone quiet — and you tell us what you would do in the first thirty days.

    3. Difficult conversation

      Video · 45 minutes

A renewal at risk because the customer never staffed the implementation they committed to. You have the conversation with us.

    4. Final conversation

      Video · 45 minutes

With field systems and support leadership. References and offer.

Nothing above fits?

We read speculative applications, and we answer them. Tell us what you would want to own and what you have built that makes that credible — that is more useful to us than a CV aimed at a posting that does not exist yet.

Applications go to a person at Novel Systems, not to a résumé parser. We do not sponsor work permits at our current size, and every posting says so rather than letting you find out at the final stage.
